The HOTTERdog Dog Jumper is one of the most thoughtfully designed dog fleeces on the market — covering the torso, chest, belly and front legs right to the base of the tail for maximum warmth, with absolutely no straps, buckles or pressure points. Strap-free by design, it fits comfortably for short or long-term wear and moves naturally with your dog rather than restricting them.

The fleece fabric is engineered to wick moisture away from the body into the atmosphere while retaining body heat — making it exceptional for drying wet working dogs after a day in the field, after swimming, or following hydrotherapy. Far more effective and comfortable than a towelling bag, and considerably quicker too.

The HOTTERdog Dog Jumper is a strap-free, moisture-wicking fleece dog jumper designed for maximum warmth and freedom of movement. It covers the torso, chest, belly, front legs and extends to the base of the tail with no pressure points or restrictive fastenings. The moisture-wicking fabric draws wet from the skin while retaining body heat, making it particularly effective for drying working dogs after a day in the field, post-swim, or following hydrotherapy. Available in five colours (Black, Red, Royal Blue, Forest Green, Grape) and five sizes (XS to XL). Price from £17.50. Brand: HOTTERdog.

Why We Recommend It

Most dog fleeces either restrict movement with straps and buckles, or leave significant parts of the dog exposed. The HOTTERdog Jumper solves both problems — full torso and front leg coverage with a strap-free design that genuinely doesn't get in the way. The moisture-wicking fabric makes it a practical tool for working dog owners, not just a comfort purchase. After a wet retrieve session or a river crossing, slipping one of these on saves significant drying time and keeps your dog warm and comfortable rather than shivering in a damp coat. The five size range from XS to XL means it fits virtually any breed.

Bailey Says 🐾

My friends, I have strong opinions about post-retrieve comfort. There is nothing dignified about standing around dripping while someone looks for a towel. The HOTTERdog Jumper goes on immediately, wicks the wet away, and keeps you warm while the humans sort themselves out. I cannot speak to the Grape colourway from personal experience, but I understand it is popular. What I can confirm is that a warm, dry dog is a focused dog. 🐾

Perfect For

  • Working gundogs needing rapid warmth after wet retrieves, river crossings or rainy field sessions
  • Dogs recovering from hydrotherapy who need comfortable, effective post-session drying
  • Lean, short-coated breeds such as Vizslas, Weimaraners and Whippets who feel the cold quickly
  • Older or convalescing dogs who benefit from extended warmth without restrictive clothing
  • Companion dogs needing practical, washable everyday warmth through autumn and winter

How To Use

Measure your dog's back length from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, and chest girth at the widest point. Use the size guide to select the correct size — when in doubt between sizes, size up for lean or deep-chested breeds. Slip the jumper over your dog's head and guide the front legs through the openings. The strap-free design means there is nothing to fasten — it simply pulls on and stays in place naturally. For post-swim or post-field drying, apply immediately after towelling off the worst of the water. Remove by reversing the process.

Care Guide

  • Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle
  • Do not use fabric softener — this can impair the moisture-wicking properties of the fleece
  • Tumble dry on low heat or air dry naturally
  • Do not iron or dry clean
  • Store clean and dry — the fleece can be folded or hung

Complete Your Setup

Complete your dog's autumn and winter kit with: a quality waterproof dog coat for days in heavy rain when the fleece needs an outer layer, the Henry Wag Microfibre Dog Drying Bag for an initial post-swim towel-down before the jumper goes on, and a dog bed with good insulation for warmth at the end of the day.

FAQs

How do I measure my dog for the right size?

Measure your dog's back length from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, and chest girth at the widest point. The size guide on the packaging covers XS (chihuahua-sized) through to XL (rottweiler-sized). If your dog is between sizes or has a deep chest, size up for the most comfortable fit.

Is it suitable for working gundogs?

Yes — it's particularly well suited to working dogs. The moisture-wicking fabric is designed to draw wet away from the skin after field work or water retrieves, making it a practical drying and warming tool rather than just a comfort garment. It's strap-free so it won't interfere with a dog's movement or working harness.

Can it be worn for extended periods?

Yes — the strap-free design with no pressure points makes it comfortable for both short and long-term wear. It's suitable for dogs recovering from surgery or hydrotherapy, older dogs who feel the cold, and any dog who needs sustained warmth through the day.

Is it better than a towelling drying bag?

For working dogs, yes. The moisture-wicking fleece draws wet away from the skin and into the atmosphere while retaining body heat — which is more effective than passive absorption. Towelling bags absorb surface water but don't actively wick moisture and can feel cold and clammy. The HOTTERdog Jumper keeps the dog warmer during the drying process.

Can I wash it after every use?

Yes — it's machine washable at 30°C. Avoid fabric softener to preserve the moisture-wicking properties. Air dry or tumble dry on low.
