Why We Recommend It
Aigle has been making exceptional outdoor footwear for over 170 years, and the Altavio High GTX represents the brand at its best. We recommend it for handlers who spend serious time in the field — the Gore-Tex membrane keeps feet genuinely dry rather than just water-resistant, the Vibram outsole provides the kind of grip that inspires confidence on wet hillsides and muddy tracks, and the enhanced cushioning means you can wear these all day without paying for it the next morning. At £159.60, it's an investment — but one that will last for seasons of hard use.

Bailey Says 🐾
I have strong opinions about Craig's footwear. Specifically, I need him to be able to keep up with me, and that requires boots that can handle whatever the field throws at them. Mud, water, rough ground, long days — the Altavio High GTX handles all of it without complaint. Craig has stopped making excuses about wet feet and sore legs, which means more time training and less time sitting down. My friends, if your handler is wearing substandard boots, upgrade them immediately. A well-booted handler is a handler who can actually work their dog properly. 🐾

How To Use
Lace the boots firmly before heading out, ensuring a snug fit around the ankle for maximum support and stability. The Gore-Tex membrane works best when the boot is properly fitted — too loose and cold air can enter around the ankle. After use in wet or muddy conditions, remove excess mud with a brush and allow to dry naturally away from direct heat. Do not place near radiators or use a boot dryer on high heat, as this can damage the Gore-Tex membrane and leather upper.
Care Guide
- Remove mud with a soft brush and rinse with cool water after field use
- Allow to dry naturally at room temperature — never use direct heat
- Treat the leather upper periodically with a quality leather conditioner or wax to maintain water repellency
- Re-proof the Gore-Tex membrane with a DWR spray treatment when water no longer beads on the surface
- Store upright in a cool, dry place — use boot trees to maintain shape
- Do not machine wash

Training Academy Tip 💡
Your footwear directly affects your ability to train effectively. A handler who's uncomfortable, slipping, or distracted by wet feet is a handler who's not fully focused on their dog. Invest in boots that let you move confidently across any terrain — your dog will notice the difference in your body language and your ability to position yourself correctly during training exercises.

FAQs
Are these boots true to size?
Aigle boots are sized in EU sizing. We recommend ordering your usual EU size. If you're between sizes or plan to wear thick socks, consider sizing up by half a size. If you're unsure, please contact us before ordering.
How waterproof is the Gore-Tex membrane?
Gore-Tex® is a fully waterproof and breathable membrane — not just water-resistant. It will keep your feet dry in sustained wet conditions including rain, puddles, and wet grass. To maintain performance, re-proof the outer with a DWR spray when water stops beading on the surface.
Are these suitable for shooting days?
Yes — the Altavio High GTX is an excellent choice for shooting days. The Vibram outsole provides grip on wet and uneven ground, the Gore-Tex keeps feet dry through long stands, and the enhanced cushioning handles all-day wear comfortably.
What is the difference between EU and UK sizing?
As a general guide: EU 39 = UK 6, EU 40 = UK 6.5–7, EU 41 = UK 7.5, EU 42 = UK 8, EU 43 = UK 9, EU 44 = UK 9.5–10, EU 45 = UK 10.5, EU 46 = UK 11. If in doubt, please contact us for sizing advice.
